With generous funding from the Harvard Culture Lab Innovation Fund, HGSE’s Instructional Moves (IM) Project is offering a interlocking set of professional development (PD) experiences for the Harvard community grounded in our new IM module focused on Educating for Equity and Inclusion in Higher Education.
Synchronous PD Opportunities
Three IM Live teaching demo sessions
These sessions allow participants to experience and unpack expert instruction. Each session will feature an instructor from a different school at Harvard teaching a 40-minute demo lesson that highlights key themes of teaching equitably and inclusively. After the lesson, a faculty discussant will lead a conversation to help us unpack the teaching practices that we all just experienced.
Following the discussion, there will be a catered reception where the discussions can continue. While these live events work together to showcase a variety of complimentary equitable and inclusive teaching practices, they also can function as standalone events.
Two Professional Learning Cohorts
These cohorts offer an eight-session arc of learning. Five of the sessions will be experienced only within the cohort, and then cohort members plus other members of the Harvard community will experience the IM Live events together. These cohorts are designed to help you incorporate research-based practices in equitable and inclusive teaching by observing, reflecting upon, and discussing high-quality Harvard teaching.
One cohort is for Harvard faculty and instructional staff, and the other is for Harvard doctoral students.
